Through the Cracks (Inclusion Strategies)
Leave this session with a greater understanding and appreciation of inclusion when meeting the needs of the special child in an early childhood environment. Participants will explore classroom strategies to better accommodate children with special needs to prevent them from slipping through the cracks.

Rewards, Bribes & Praise (Age Group Focus: 3-5 years)
Face it! Sometimes it’s just easier to bribe or offer rewards to children to get them to do what we want. This interactive session is designed to get participants thinking about ways to incorporate cooking activities throughout the daily schedule. Participants will discover child friendly recipes and review the basic principles of cooking in the classroom including safety precautions, allergy awareness and hygiene practices.

Preventing Childhood Obesity in the Early Years
First lady Michelle Obama announced the “Let’s Move” campaign to curb childhood obesity. It is estimated that a third of all American children are overweight or obese. This session discusses childhood obesity and shares strategies for addressing obesity in the early child care setting.
